Since its beginning in April of 2004, the focus of WisconsinView has been to make it easier for people to find and download remote sensing data and imagery of Wisconsin. We have remained flexible to the needs of the State. We initially put Landsat and aerial photography online for user download. More recently we have offered web mapping services and access to LiDAR data.
WisconsinView is a member of the AmericaView consortium. Dr. Tom Lillesand directed the program from 2004 – 2006 with Dr. Sam Batzli as the program coordinator. In 2006 after Dr. Lillesand’s retirement and the program’s move from the Nelson Institute to the Space Science & Engineering Center, Dr. Steve Ventura directed the program. Dr. Batzli took the reins in 2007.
