WisconsinView sponsored two undergraduate students in the SSEC Summer Internship program of 2025. Inna Shapovalenka (Franklin & Marshall College) and Alexa Matson (UW-Madison) each built two NASA-STELLA hand-held spectrometers, tested the devices, collected data, developed curriculum, and taught a workshop for high school students – all in 10-weeks! This required ordering parts, assembling the spectrometers, soldering components, designing and 3D printing cases, establishing a data collection protocol, designing a website, developing a workshop, and teaching students.
